POLICE are urging business owners not to leave money in the till when they are closed after cash was taken in Lyme Regis.
Overnight on Saturday, September 12, offenders broke into a cafe on Marine Parade and took a quantity of money from the till.
On the same evening, damage was caused to the front door of a shop along Broad Street.
A spokesperson for Lyme Regis Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Please can we remind all businesses not to leave money in your till when the premises are closed.
“Tills are not a secure location to store your hard earned cash, not even your float. Store it in a secure safe or remove it to a secure location.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police on 101.
