PUPILS and teachers at the Woodroffe School are celebrating after achieving their best ever GCSE results.

Headteacher at the Lyme Regis school, Dr Richard Steward, hailed the ‘fantastic set of results’ as 75 percent of pupils gained at least five GCSEs between A* and C, including English and Maths.

George Chantler achieved an incredible 12 A*s and is looking forward to studying Maths, Chemistry and Physics at Sixth Form.

He said: “I’m just really happy with my results.

“I’m just so pleased that in relation to how hard I have worked, it was paid off and yielded these results. I really wasn’t expecting to have done so well.

“I’m now looking forward to sixth form in September, where I’m probably going to study Maths, Chemistry and Physics. I’m going to relax and go home and watch TV.”

Frieda Hall Hickman achieved eight A*s and four As, Alaina Cockerell gained seven A*s, three As and one B – while Emily Jones secured six A*s and six As and Hope Horsfield achieved six A*s, four As and two Bs.

Lily Whitehead gained six A*s, three As and one B, Isabella Brown achieved five A*s and six As, Varity Fuller secured five A*s and six As and Tara Byrne achieved five A*s and five As.  

Tara said: “I’m really pleased with my results and that it’s all finished.

“I never thought I would do so well, so I’m really shocked and happy.”

The school is also celebrating after 85 percent of students achieved at least a C in England, while 89 percent of pupils achieved at least a C in Maths.

Dr Steward said: “This is a fantastic set of results and I am absolutely delighted to see so many of our students doing so well.

“As ever, students have worked incredibly hard and one can only admire the commitment and determination of those young people who manage to achieve high grades across such a broad range of disciplines.
