POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a purse was stolen in Lyme Regis.
Officers have released a CCTV image of a suspect after the incident at Harbour Stores, Cobb Road. The theft took place at around 2.25pm on Wednesday, July 22.
A woman accidentally left her handbag in the shop, but realised the error approximately 15 minutes later. She returned to the shop to find her handbag, but noticed her purse was missing.
The purse contained bank cards, personal documents and items – as well as a small amount of cash.
Police Constable Kirsti Ball, of Lyme Regis police, said: “I am keen to trace the woman in this CCTV image and am appealing to anyone who recognises her to please call me on 101.
“All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”
The suspect has been described as white, aged in her 30s, around five feet eight inches tall, of medium build and had dark shoulder-length hair.
