THE venue for the Lyme Regis skatepark consultation event has been changed.

The consultation on Monday 10 November will be held in the Jubilee Pavilion instead of the Lister Room to allow disabled access to the event.

The Jubilee Pavilion has full disabled access and is on the ground level of the Marine Parade.

The event is from 2pm to 7pm and councillors, council officers and designers will be available all day to discuss the project and answer questions.

People are encouraged to share their views on the town’s much anticipated skatepark at the public consultation.

Lyme Regis Town Council is hosting an open day to give the community the chance to talk to project leaders about the proposals for the skatepark at the north east corner of Charmouth Road car park.

Experts from skatepark designers Wheelscape and town councillors will be discussing the proposals and answering questions. The town council committed £150,000 to the project in November, and Wheelscape were selected to design and build the skatepark in April.

Designer Jeremy Donaldson, from Wheelscape, said: “It’s a pretty steep sloping site so we have developed a very unique design to allow a constant flow on that park.

“You can go downhill and back up as many times as you like so it’s not a one-way street down the hill.

“To tackle the issue of noise we’ve also made this ‘L’ shaped wall around the site.

“We’ve tailored the park to the town and taken into consideration the issues raised during consultation and by the town council.”

The planning application has been submitted to West Dorset District Council and the formal consultation process is now open.

Cllr Lucy Campbell said: “At long last we are on the verge of building a skatepark in Lyme Regis.

“We’re keen that the community gets behind this project for the benefit of the young people.”

The application can be seen at dorsetforyou.com, application number WD/D/14/002477, and comments must be submitted by November 18.
