Woodroffe pupils stage cabaret night to sell-out audience
2:00pm Thursday 20th February 2014 in Lyme Regis
STUDENTS from Woodroffe School performed their annual cabaret night to a sell-out crowd at the school.
The cabaret show was held over three nights, with friends and family.
It was organised and produced by French teacher Kathy Elliott and this year’s sixth form mentor team of Henry Cornish, Miles Ford and Harry Robson. More than 80 acts auditioned for the showcase, with the final acts spending four months rehearsing their performances.
From comedians to singers, mass dance acts to rappers, the cabaret night included a variety of acts that kept the crowd entertained.
As always, it remained a fiercely-led student effort, with pupils hard at work backstage helping with sound, lighting, costumes and choreography.
Kathy Elliott said: “It is an honour to work with such talented, hardworking and committed students and a joy to welcome back ex-mentors who clearly very much valued the experience. The skills acquired in this predominantly student led production clearly live on.”
The show also saw the return of five former pupils who had also been ex-mentors, as they travelled from their different universities to support the show and lend their expertise to the current team of mentors.
