Lyme Regis Rotary Club donates £500 to RNLI
LYME Regis Rotary Club has donated £500 to the Lyme Regis RNLI to purchase a new set of binoculars.
The club raised the funds at its annual golf day and decided to donate the money to the RNLI following an increase in water sports enthusiasts visiting the town during the recent bad weather and the increase in fossil hunters.
They have set aside the money to purchase a new set of binoculars or a telescope to allow the volunteers to keep an eye on both the water and the beaches.
Richard Finch, who is a Rotarian and a lifeboat sea safety officer, said: “We raised these funds as part of our annual Golf Day.
“The RNLI forms an integral part of our town and the volunteers that make up the crew, ‘sea-side’ and ‘shore-side’, are always there to help other organisations that wish to raise funds for charitable causes, be it the duck race or the Lyme Lunge.
“We are proud to be able to help the RNLI in a constructive way - to help them to save lives at sea”.
