ORGANISERS have been forced to cancel the Carols Around the Christmas Tree event in Lyme Regis tonight.

Torrential rain and high winds led to several band members not wanting to risk travelling in the weather, resulting in the Rotary club being forced to cancel the event.

John McCallum, a member of the Lyme Regis Rotary Club who were organising the event, said: “A few members of the band had real concerns about travelling in this bad weather, so we have been forced to cancel it.

“I doubt we will look to re-organise the event because carols around a Christmas tree after Christmas doesn’t sound right.”

The rotary club had earlier rearranged the service to be performed in the Pilot Boat Inn in Lyme Regis because of the worries over the bad weather.
