Guitars on the beach to return
10:43am Thursday 24th October 2013 in Lyme Regis
ORGANISERS of Guitars on the Beach and Food Rocks have set a date for a return of the popular event next year.
Thousands of musicians from all over the world flocked to the Guitars on the beach world record attempt to create Britain’s biggest ever band, with top chefs coming to Lyme Regis to participate in the Food Rocks festival as well.
Due to public demand and the success of this year’s festivals, organisers have penciled in September 6 and 7 for its return in 2014, and promise it will be bigger and better than last year, and eclipse the £7,600 it raised for local charities.
Co-ordinated by a new team of celebrity chef Mark Hix, Jo Harris, the Lyme Regis Business Group and Guitars on the beach promotions, it will be called ‘Guitars on the Beach @ Food Rocks”.
Top chefs, food functions and food stalls will be spread over Lyme Regis, along with a mackerel fishing competition set to be launched. There will also be more local bands and musicians playing throughout the town.
Each of the 2,600 guitarists who signed up for this year’s event will be invited back with organisers hoping more will sign up. The song they will play, as part of the band, will be The Monkees smash hit, “I'm A Believer”.
