A BY-ELECTION is on the cards for Lyme Regis Town Council after requests from more than 10 electors.
Notice was given of a vacancy on the town council following the death of former mayor Barbara Austin.
West Dorset District Council has today confirmed that the election process has now started.
A spokesman said: “We have received the required number of signatures so the election process is now in progress.
“We now need more than one person to come forward to put themselves up for election by March 13, when we will know if we have enough candidates for an election.
“An election would be held on April 11.”
