UPLYME residents are being reminded of who to contact in case of flood.

Some parish councillors keep empty sandbags, which are available to residents, and there is also a council emergency team.

The councillors with empty sandbags are – Andrew Turner (01297 442599), Colin Pratt (01297 443346), and Paulene Frost (01297 445282).

Residents can get their own supplies from a local builders’ merchant to keep at home.

The bags should not be kept full as they soon rot.

Parish clerk Lois Wakeman said: “If there is yet another flood, the council's emergency team will be out working, so please be considerate and patient if you can't get assistance immediately.”

The council's emergency contact point is Coun Brian Mason, on 01297 445847.

In a real emergency, where life or health is threatened, telephone 999.

For highways problems, the number to call is 0845 155 1004, which will direct you to the right number to call if it is unmanned.

East Devon District Council has an emergency contact point for help with setting up a rest centre if multiple properties are flooded, and can help with clearing up afterwards.

The main contact number is 01395 517528, or out of hours 01395 578237.
