Meet to discuss benefit changes
10:30am Thursday 25th October 2012 in Lyme Regis
LYME residents can find out about changes to the benefits system at a special money management event in the town.
LymeNet, in conjunction with Magna Housing, is running a ‘managing your money’ morning at the Woodmead Halls on Friday, October 26 at 9.30am.
The session will end with a free sandwich lunch.
Residents can talk to local organisations about how to cope with changes to the system.
Issues such as how the benefit changes taking place next year will affect you, what is universal credit and how it will affect you, and questions on benefits being capped from next April can all be addressed.
Heather Prior, from LymeNet, said: “From next year you will have to apply for benefits over the internet.
“LymeNet offers access to the internet and training to enable you to use computers. “LymeNet also can show you how to budget effectively so that you can stay in control of your finances.
“The First Dorset Credit Union (FDCU) is based at LymeNet and can offer loans at fair rates and provide savings opportunities. “The CAB is also based at LymeNet and can offer advice and support if you find yourself in financial difficulty.
“Come along to our ‘managing your money’ morning to find out more. “If you think you will find it difficult to get there, please call LymeNet and we will see if we can help you.”
