Town clerk due to retire in 2013

LYME Regis town clerk Mike Lewis has announced his retirement after 27 years working for the council.

Mr Lewis, pictured, who will be 60 in February next year, has notified councillors and staff of his intention to retire at the end of March, 2013.

He joined the town council as finance officer in late 1985 and has been town clerk and responsible financial officer for the last 13 years.

Mayor Sally Holman said: “Mike has steered the council through significant periods in its recent history including the coast protection works and the regeneration of the seafront including, most notably for the town council, the major refurbishment of the Marine Parade Shelters.

“The council is very grateful for the effective leadership Mike has shown in what have been at times very challenging circumstances.

“He will certainly be missed by staff and councillors and we wish him well for the future”.

His post will be advertised soon.
