Lyme Regis: Get in tune for annual jazz festival
12:00pm Wednesday 23rd May 2012 in Local News
MUSICIANS will be jazzing up Lyme Regis when an annual music festival lifts off on May 25 to 27.
Organisers say that the Lyme Regis Jazz, Blues and Beer Festival will be the biggest and best so far.
Headline acts including a Louis Armstrong tribute band and King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys.
Tony Colston and businessmen stepped in at the end of last year’s festival to save it from extinction and are keen to encourage even more people than usual to join in. Mr Colston said: “We’ve extended the scope of the festival this year to appeal to a wider audience. The weekend offers lots of variety for all the family.”
Organisers are promising a range of musicians all washed down with ales from local breweries.
The weekend will also feature its traditional umbrella parade on Saturday, May 26 – accompanied by the Louisianna Parade Band.
Mr Colston said: “It would be great if we could have a record turn out to start the festival on a real high, so please grab your brollies and come along and join us.”
He added: “Our aim is that everyone has a great time and goes home to tell their friends all about it so that next year the event can be bigger and better than ever.
“Lyme’s a fantastic place and festivals like this help to keep the town vibrant and interesting for residents and visitors alike.
