LIFEBOAT chiefs at Lyme Regis have received a £200 donation from – ‘The Fuehrer’.
An actor who performs a one-man show as Adolf Hitler sent the money with the message: “I thought it fitting that the Fuehrer should contribute to a worthwhile cause.”
Paul Webster, who appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe this year, sent a cheque which was part of the proceeds of his performances.
Now he is hoping to bring his 75-minute show, Hitler Alone, to the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis.
He said: “I love Lyme Regis and if I am able to perform in the town I will again donate the proceeds to the RNLI charity.”
Mr Webster, 71, from Stratford Upon Avon, sent his donation in response to an appeal from the RNLI which itemised the costs of various items of equipment used by lifeboat crews.
The one-man show depicts Hitler in his bunker one hour before his suicide.
Mr Webster added: “I was intrigued how a man from nowhere could rise to lead one of the most civilised of nations on a quest for world domination, extermination and enslavement.”
