Chesterton Humberts in success on home front

THE recession-defying strength of the housing market in Bridport has helped a local estate agents win national acclaim.

Chesterton Humberts in South Street has been named as the company’s top-selling office in the country for 2009.

Martin Bowen-Ashwin, director and his team were awarded the highly-prized accolade at the company’s annual conference held at the Grosvenor Square Hotel in London.

Mr Bowen-Ashwin said: “We are extremely pleased and honoured to win, bearing in mind the immense competition now we are part of a 60-office network, including 27 London offices many of which cover the prime London areas, including Mayfair, Belgravia and South Kensington selling some of the most expensive properties in the world.

“Our Mayfair office has just sold a penthouse in Park Lane for over £20million. Well done to my team for all their hard work, dedication and expertise over the past 12 months producing excellent results over a very difficult trading period. It also shows the strength of the property market in Bridport and West Dorset.

“Bridport is very much on the map in national terms and has been one of the best, most resilient areas throughout the country.”

Humberts merged with the London-based agency Chesterton at the beginning of this year to form one of the largest and leading privately-owned national and international multi- disciplined estate agents in the UK.

Chesterton Humberts plans to open further offices in due course, both in the UK and internationally, including Russia, North Africa and the Middle East.
