Calling all musicians, singers, performers and choirs – it’s time to take to the stage for a good cause.

Bridport’s MusicAthon is set to return this year – and it needs your help.

A key event in the Bridport calendar, MusicAthon hopes to return bigger and better than ever for its 10th anniversary in June.

Once again, the event will raise vital funds for the

Richard Ely Trust for Young Musicians and the Bridport Youth and Community

Trust.

Jo O’Farrell, one of the organisers, said as well as the performance in Bridport’s United Church, there will also be musicians in Bucky Doo Square.

It is hoped local schools will be able to take part during school time in the week

leading up to the event, to encourage as many young musicians as possible to get involved.

Organisers have written to local primary and secondary schools, inviting them to take part in the event with special musical activities during the school day in the week leading up to the event, on June 9.

If you work at, or have contacts in, any local schools, could you encourage them to take part is some way?

Bridport Lions have agreed to run a coffee morning at the United Church hall during the MusicAthon from 10am to 12pm, with all profits going to the main event.

From 12pm, Pat Crawford and her team will be offering light lunches and other refreshments in the hall –

but organisers need help and offers of cakes for both of these events.

There will be a bric-a-brac stall in Bucky Doo from 10am to 2pm, co-ordinated by Roz Copson, for which organisers need prizes.

Volunteers are also needed to help with bookings this

year.

As for the main event, if you would like to perform at the usual Saturday all-day event at Bridport United Church, you are encouraged to get in touch and book a 10 minute slot (or a double slot for a larger group or if you are a teacher and pupils).

Musicians will be performing all day in United Church and the coffee morning will be held there from 10am to 12pm. Lunches and afternoon teas will be served later in the

day.

There will also be music in Bucky Doo Square from 10am to 2pm.
