The galleries in Lyme Regis’s Town Mill will be full of unique, humourous and infinitely collectible works of art in two up-coming exhibitions timed to welcome the spring.

From tomorrow until March 28, the Courtyard Gallery will host four south west artists exhibiting for the first time together in Earth, Hare, Fur and Water—an apt parody of the four elements.

These artists take their inspiration from the local landscape and its residents employ very distinctive styles and different forms, resulting in an exciting and varied mix of work.

Lucy Tidbury specialises in oil paintings and is well known for her Moo Selfie series that capture curious cows in front of iconic local landmarks.

Mark Page works primarily in pencil, creating humourous yet skilled sketches of hares, as well as some stunning, almost photo-realistic landscapes and architecture.

Michelle Clements-Davies from Harbour Wood Design makes incredibly detailed miniature harbours from locally sourced driftwood and found objects, and will also be showcasing a series of Pollockesque (but with a twist) paintings.

Watercolour artist Sandi Mower paints British wildlife in a loose style with a bright palette.

As a keen bird watcher, she is inspired by local inhabitants but also loves to paint fun and funky creatures from far away lands.

Following on last year’s successful first outing, a second annual Contemporary Crafts exhibition will be taking over the Malthouse Gallery from Saturday until April 4.

A number of established and emerging craft designer-makers like ceramicists Linda Bristow and Caroline Barnes, glass artist Teresa Williams and furniture-makers Peter Lanyon and Alice Blogg will be showing their latest creations, all unique examples of hand-crafted objects at a range of prices to suit everyone.
