The A35 has been partially blocked both ways due to a broken-down vehicle.
The vehicle broke down between the B3162 West Road and Duck Street.
Dorset Police are at the scene.
A police spokesman said: "We received a call at 3.34pm reporting a broken-down vehicle on the Bridport side of Chideock Hill on the A35.
"The owner has arranged for the vehicle's recovery and an officer is on the scene."
The incident is affecting traffic between Chideock and Bothenhampton.
Recovery is at the scene and should be dealt with later this afternoon.
