WORK is continuing to remove 600 metres of overhead electricity cables in a West Dorset village, which is set to improve the view for residents.

Western Power Distribution started excavations a few weeks ago in Loders and will soon move on to the next phase of work that will involve excavations on the public highway.

Alex Chamberlain, Underground Technician at WPD said: “So far the work has involved excavations around customers’ properties and we are grateful for the patience and cooperation from all those involved.

“This is a major project and will have a huge impact when complete but we are aware some of the works, and in particular the next phase on the highway, may cause inconvenience to residents and road users, which we will endeavour to keep to a minimum with an agreed traffic management system in place along the route.”

Letters were delivered to local residents and business owners in July ahead of the works advising customers of the work which is expected to be complete in November.

This amenity scheme is one of a number of iconic sites WPD is supporting under the current Ofgem Scheme.
