BRIDPORT'S very own music festival is now firmly on the calendar after four years.

The Jurassic Fields Festival is the brainchild of Scott Morris and Dan Broom who together put in thousands of unpaid hours to ensure the event runs smoothly and offers what they dreamed of - fun family festival showcasing homegrown talent.

Scott said: "It was one day in the summer of 2013 that I was watching a cricket tournament with a load of friends who were saying that they were going to festivals all over the country, that me and Dan come up with the idea of holding a music festival on our own front door. Its hard work but yet great fun."

This year around 4,000 people attended over the two days and with business sponsorship they hope to at least have broken event.

But making money isn't the primary motivation, said Scott.

He said: "We thought Bridport has such great music talent, so why don't we show it off and bring it into a community family festival.

"No one has anything bad to say about it - except to say why doesn't it come round twice a year!

"I think we have broken even. I think we get around £20,000 sponsorship and it is definitely bringing the business down into one field together to mingle but the main aim wasn't to make money.

"This year me and Dan have put in around 3,000 hours each in our spare time and we don't take a penny.

"Every single band said they want to come back and play again."
