REGISTRATION is now open for the fifth annual Bridport Jurassic Coast Run.

The run, organised by Bridport Runners and Brit Valley Rotary Club, is a popular community event and a recommended race among club runners from all over the South West.

It is hoped this year's 10k and half-marathon races will be no different and draw even more ambitious

runners to West Bay on Sunday, 6 August 6, when the event kicks off at 10.30am near The Old Salt House.

The Bridport Jurassic Coast Run, is held on the same day at West Bay Days and is one of the major attractions.

While the 10k race is celebrating its fifth birthday, the half marathon had its successful debut at West Bay Days last year.

It earned lots of praise from participants for its spectacular scenery, friendly marshals and good organisation and the odd hill.

The course hasn't changed – apart from adding a visit to Seatown for the half-marathon runners which makes the whole distance a proper 13.1+

miles.

Both races will start with the famous 'Broadchurch' cliff at West Bay in the background, leading runners all the way up to the second highest hill on the South Coast of England,Thorncombe Beacon, then down to Seatown for half-marathon runners only, and back through Downhouse Farm, Eype to West Bay. The half-marathon will include two loops.

Last year the fastest male runner Edward Knudsen completed the half-marathon race in 1 hour 33 minutes and 21 seconds.

The fastest female was Jessica Bennett who did it in one hour 46 minutes and 9 seconds.

On the 10k race, the time of the fastest male runner Nigel Gates was 46:01 with the fastest woman, Lydia

O’Donoghue, covering the distance in ran 54:54.

Both races are affiliated runs with UK Athletics (race No. 27096).

Registration for the races is now open online through the websites of Runners World runnersworld.co.uk and RunBritain runbritain.com.
