A BOUTIQUE guest home is celebrating after winning a hospitality award for the second year in a row.

Dorset House in Lyme Regis re-opening its doors in 2014 following a complete refurbishment by owners Lyn and Jason Martin.

The Pound Road bed and breakfast business has been named a winner of the Taste of the West gold hospitality award.

Dorset House specialises in offering seasonal, home-cooked breakfasts using local ingredients, organic whenever possible.

Mrs Martin said: "I'm really pleased that Taste of the West has recognised our commitment to local produce.

"For us, it's all about bringing new visitors to Lyme who want to taste the fabulous local food and discover all the great things the area has to offer."

Running a B&B was a complete lifestyle change for the Martins. Mrs Martin previously worked for Jaguar LandRover and Mr Martin was a professional tennis play.He is still a tennis coach, involved with local clubs.

Mr Martin said: "We fell in love with Lyme and it took us three years to find the right place.

"I remember when we first came here. We stopped by the beach for a coffee and looked at the landscape all around and knew this was where we wanted to live. It was quite emotional."

The couple moved to Lyme from Oxfordshire in 2013 with their three children. It took them a year renovate Dorset House before they re-opened the doors in May 2014.

Mrs Martin added: "Three-quarters of our guests haven’t been here before, or not since they were kids, so we feel we are contributing to Lyme’s successful local economy by attracting new visitors."

The Martins’ support of local causes extends beyond the breakfast ingredients. Jason is head coach at Seaton Tennis Club and a trustee of the newly formed Uplyme and Lyme Regis Tennis Club. He is actively involved in raising funds to re-open the Uplyme court after the flood damage of 2012.
