A LANDSLIP in Lyme Regis has closed a brand new coastal path.
The incident at East Beach has closed access to the new path, constructed as part of the defence works to protect the town from the sea.
West Dorset District Council is urging people to use "common sense" and be aware of any dangers.
Cllr John Russell, the council’s executive portfolio holder for environmental protection and assets, said: “Contractors have gone to the site to remove debris.
“Our engineers will be monitoring the situation and carrying out necessary works to help protect the public from harm.
“Existing signage is in place to warn visitors of the potential hazards.
“Landslips do happen from time to time and our message to people visiting the west Dorset coastline is to use common sense and be aware of the dangers, such as falling rocks.”
