BRAVE swimmers enjoying a Christmas Day dip in the sea will be treated to a hot festive drink this year.

Those taking part in the traditional dip at Charmouth this year can enjoy a hot toddy as they emerge from the chilly waters.

The whiskey-based drink will be provided by the landlords of Charmouth's Royal Oak pub, Karen Phillips and her partner Ian Hendry.

The Royal Oak is sponsoring the festive event for the second straight year.

Karen said: "We are delighted to be involved.

"We have some pretty outrageously dressed customers in the pub on Christmas Day, but the event gives everyone a great buzz.

"We will provide a hot toddy for all those who brave the waves and I think it will be very welcome."

Swimmers usually don colourful fancy dress - with costumes ranging from nuns and crusaders to vicars and fairies.

Members of the volunteer lifeboat crew from Lyme Regis will be on hand to keep an eye on proceedings, and the swim is once again supporting the RNLI.

The swim will be started at 11am by Lyme Regis town crier Alan Vian.
