MUSIC will fill the air at this year’s Dorset County Show with a variety of acts lined up for the event.

The celebration of all things Dorset on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6 will include a lively line-up of musical acts for visitors to enjoy.

Among those entertaining the crowds at the showground just outside Dorchester over the weekend will be Woody the roaming One Man Band, who is described as a one-man virtuoso.

His huge collection of instruments include a mandolin, banjolele, ukulele, spoons, bones, harmonica and various guitars.

Woody promises to deliver a distinctive, bluesy style for visitors to the show to relax to and enjoy.
Back by popular demand at the event will be the New Forest Yokels.

There will be plenty of foot-stomping, straw-chewing and singing along as the band featuring Mucker Mike, Compost John and Rustic Rex perform hit songs from their repertoire such as Drink up Ye Cider and Cider Drinker.

The New Forest Yokels will unsurprisingly be performing in the Dorset Brewing Company’s Tent.

There will also be plenty of local representation including Dorchester’s very own Durnovaria Silver Band.

The 25-piece silver band will be performing in the countryside area and will attempt to add a sense of occasion as the show celebrates its 175th anniversary year.

The Durnovaria Silver Bband will be performing a host of rousing, popular numbers for people of all ages to enjoy.

A spokesman for the Dorset County Show said the music lined up for this year’s event promised to offer something for everyone to enjoy over the weekend.

She said: “Whether it’s a bit of gentle toe-tapping or a full-on barnstormer you’re after, this year’s show is getting the party started with a great line-up of music to suit all tastes.

“Grab yourself a suitable drink, find a patch of grass and enjoy!

“Dancing and general joining in will be expected and encouraged, so get ready to get on down at this year’s show.”
