MORE than 1,000 people are expected to turn out for an annual festival this weekend to help keep the town's tourist information centre open.

Crowds will gather at the showground on Saturday (27) for the Axminster Beer, Music and Cider Festival - with the event on course to become another roaring success.

The event is a major fundraiser to provide money for the independent Axminster Tourist Information Centre.

Festival organiser Shane Morgan, said: "The Beer Festival is on course to be another bumper event, raising funds to ensure our Tourist Information Centre stays open and staffed all year round.

"I am delighted with the response so far."

The gates will open at 1pm, with live music starting from 2pm with a variety of acts on offer.

Live bands performing include Elliot Bastin, Reckless Princess, Six Days, Mothers Ruin, Wise Intentions, Live Wired and Thick Thieves.

Seaton-based Six Days is the musical output of Ellie and Ollie Harris. The siblings will provide harmonies and memorable melodies, packaged in Americana and folk songs.

Since their self-titled EP was released in 2013, they have crafted and tightened their performances. Along with the release of their single 'Choose Me Again', they have gained regular appearances and support from BBC Introducing and a range of local venues and musicians.

Six Days' album 'Live at The Marine' was released earlier this month, capturing an intimate live performance.

Reckless Princess is the stage name of Axminster local Vicky Pearce. The singer-songwriter takes inspiration from everyday observations, resulting in a nod to a love of linguistics and poetry - while at the same time digging into the female psyche.

A range of Branscombe Vale beers will be on offer for real ale fans, while tasty barbecue food will be supplied by Complete Meats and staffed by the Tourist Information Centre and a full bar will be provided by The Old Inn at Kilmington.

Admission to the event lasts throughout the day on the gate at the showground on Trafalgar Way. Those under the age of 18 will not be admitted after 9pm and proof of age will be required.
