A WEST DORSET village was taken over by weird and wonderful stuffed figures as the fourth annual Loders and Uploders scarecrow festival took place.
Organised by villagers Rachel Dunne and Louise Peraux, there were 37 entries to this year’s competition, with the most creative or humorous creation securing the coveted title.
Past year’s themes have included poppies and fairytales, but this year’s competition appealed to green-fingered residents with an ‘in the garden’ theme.
The overall winner of the competition was called ‘Eden’ and depicted Adam and Eve, entered by the residents of Croads Farm.
The scarecrows’ creators found out they scooped the accolade when the contest results were announced at the family jolly picnic.
Rachel said of this year’s event: “The winning entry was just hilarious. We were delighted with how many people took part this year. It was more than the 20 entries we had last year.
“We were lucky with the weather this year as it was mostly dry.
“This is our fourth year and it keeps building up each year. Loads of people went out with their maps and voting forms and we had more than 130 people voting.”
