A YOUNG woman who was killed in a rockfall in West Dorset will be remembered at the London Marathon.
Charlotte Blackman was just 22 at the time of the incident at Hive Beach, West Dorset in July, 2012.
Her aunt is running the marathon on Sunday to raise money for a memorial fund set up in Charlotte’s honour. Miriam Roche, 45 from Ripley, Derbyshire said that it’s been veryit had been difficult for the family and Charlotte’s boyfriend Matthew Carnell since the incident.
Miriam said the fundraiser had given them something else to focus on and that everyone is hoping to raise as much money as possible, with the aim that one day they can sponsor a guide dog for a child with autism.
She added that Charlotte had wanted to be a school teacher and had a bond with autistic children.
Miriam said: “If I wasn’t running it for a charity I’d still get round, but the fact that I’m wearing that T-shirt and raising money for Charlotte and her fund gives me more determination.
getting round.
“Obviously I’ll be thinking of her when I’m running with a T-shirt with her photo and the fund number on the back.”
