The A35 is open again eastbound after a two-vehicle crash near Bridport.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A35 at Miles Cross. 

"The collision was between a red Renault Kangoo registered to an Axminster man, and a white Ford Fiesta registered to a Swindon company.

"South Western Ambulance Service and vehicle recovery is on the scene and the road is closed eastbound."

The spokesman added the closure was lifted just after 1.30pm.

There were reports of heavy traffic around Bridport as the collision was cleared.

One bystander said a car was on its roof and one person in another vehicle was cut out of it by firefighters.

They added there were a number of firefighters on the scene, and the collision caused delays.

A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to the incident at just after 12pm.

"A female casualty was trapped in one car. Crews released her using hydraulic cutting equipment.

"The road was closed to eastbound traffic."

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said: "A total of three ambulances were on scene.

"There are reports of two casualties, and one person has been taken to Dorset County Hospital."
