CHEESE from Lyme Regis has sold for a staggering £600 at auction.
The Town Mill Cheesemonger, Mill Lane, donated three cheddar cheeses shaped as vinyl records to be sold at a benefit concert for former Wings guitarist Henry McCulloch.
Henry requires 24-hour care after suffering a heart attack in 2012. A fundraising event was held at the famous Half Moon venue in London last week.
During the evening, there was an auction of memorabilia from various donors - including Paul McCartney and Henry himself - whose platinum disc of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon was sold for £1,200. A signed vinyl set of the 11 Beatles albums in Mono fetched £1,700.
Town Mill Cheesemonger Justin Tunstall, said: "Cheese might be an unusual item to see on a charity auction, but we commission cheeses that look like 45 rpm single records.
"I thought that providing something that had particular relevance to the evening's line-up might raise a bob or two."
