Car overturns at highway junction

Firefighters were called after a car overturned on the A35 at Litton Cheney, close to the Long Bredy junction at around 9.30am on New Year’s Eve.

Crews found the driver had already left the vehicle.

Firefighters ensured the vehicle was safe by isolating the ignition.

Vehicle plate theft

A number plate was stolen from a Skoda Fabia from a driveway in Bowhayes, Bridport between Friday, December 26 and 7pm on Saturday, December 27, police said.

Horse lorry raid

On Saturday, January 3 between 11am and 4.45pm items were stolen from an insecure horse lorry left unattended in a lay-by near Lambert Hill Castle, police said.

Tyres are slashed

Between 4pm on Sunday, December 28 and 4pm on Monday, December 29 vandals slashed the tyres on three vehicles parked in St Andrew’s Road, police said.

Metal stolen in ram-raid on firm

Thieves ram-raided Ackerman Engineering Ltd on the Corbin Business Park to steal a skip full of scrap metal.

A large vehicle was used to force the gates between 5.30pm on January 2 and 10am the next day.

The thieves fled with a blue skip bearing the owner’s name GP Metals containing scrap metal.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who might have seen or heard anything suspicious on the night.

30 charged after Christmas blitz

A total of 30 people were charged with drink or drug driving-related offences in December, police have revealed. Of these, 24 were men and six were women.

The figures form part of Dorset Police’s Christmas drink and drug drive campaign, which finished on December 31, 2014.

On New Year’s Day a further five people were arrested in Dorset and have been charged with a drink or drug drive-related offence.
