The Hub is moving following a £1,000 donation which has given the centre a colourful boost.

Over the past few months staff at The Hub have been busy improving things for children and young people in the town.

The £1,000 donation has come from Dorset County Council’s Youth Service and young people at The Hub have been involved in designing a new floor for entrance area; which now looks bright and colourful.

DCC area youth worker James Ward-Rice said: “I continue to be delighted with the commitment and progress from all who are involved in developing The Hub.

“Most pleasing is the energy and enthusiasm that young people offer; all these contributions are valuable.

“They make a significant difference and are a key reason why The Hub continues to be so busy.”

Diane Earle, manager at The Hub, said West Dorset District Council has confirmed that they will continue to part fund The Hub next year. She added: “Peter Wiles and Lyme Regis Town Council have also kindly donated funds towards a replacement window for the upstairs hall area.

“Peter has supported The Hub since launching ‘Images of Lyme Regis’ calendars in 2012.

“The donations, which amount to £310 so far, are thanks to the sales efforts of a number of Lyme Regis businesses including the Post Office, Serendip Bookshop, the Tourist Information Centre, Lyme Museum, Aroma Café, Amid Giants and Idols and the Beach House Café. “A big thank-you must go to them for their continued support.”

The Hub also hosts a range of activities for people in the town, including Youth Club on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.

TargetTAGB have also recently started Taekwondo classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4.30pm.

B Sharp continues to offer music sessions on Tuesdays from 6pm, while Thursdays are busy with The Hubs’ Toddlers meeting at 9.30am, Lyme Majorettes training at 6pm and SouthWest Kickboxing at 8pm.

A new drama class has also just started on Fridays after school.

‘The Hub Horrors’ will also take place on October 31 with face-painting, arts, crafts and more at the Marine Parade from 10am until 3pm. Or there will be a double bill of horror movies at The Hub from 6pm for children under 12 and 8pm onwards for older children.

Horrific games and fun will be part of the spooky night at The Hub, and most importantly all funds raised will contribute towards further improvements to the building. The Hub is also available to hire, so to find out more call Diane on 01297 445021 or visit hublyme.co.uk.
