Herbal pet product manufacturer Dorwest Herbs has continued its award-winning streak this year.

The West Dorset company scooped another award at the PetQuip ceremony at the Majestic Hotel, Harrogate as part of the PATS pet trade exhibition.

Eighteen pet care companies were honoured back in September in six industry categories, and Dorwest won the Gold Award in the ‘Supplier of the Year’ category, rewarding their customer service and product support.

As if that wasn’t enough, Mary Boughton MBE, company director, won her first ever special Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mary has taken Dorwest from strength to strength over the last 50 years alongside her husband Tony and she is involved within the pet and veterinary industry at many levels.

She is a vice-chairman of National Office of Animal Health (NOAH), lectures to veterinary groups and pet care students as well as writing on the use of herbal medicines for companion animals.

Outside of her work-based activities, Mary has also been a champion for small businesses and was awarded an MBE for services to business and the community in 2005.

Mary said: “We are only a small company so to pick up two awards from such an illustrious international organisation like PetQuip is wonderful.

“I believe it’s recognition for the connection we have with animals and the passion we show as a team. It’s an honour to receive a lifetime achievement.”

Dorwest Herbs was also highly commended for its new oatmeal advance shampoo in the grooming product category in PATS new product showcase.

The awards follow the PAWSCARS Best Trade Stand and the Natwest Venus Customer Service Award won by Dorwest earlier this year.
