CHARMOUTH Primary School has involved itself in helping the wider community by raising money for a local charity.
The school presented a cheque to Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, a Hospice based in Dorchester. A special assembly was held on Thursday and £61 was presented.
Lorraine Hodder, a teaching assistant at Charmouth Primary, said: “We like to maintain strong links with the wider community. “We are pleased that the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, a local charity, is one of the charities we will be supporting during this academic year.”
The money was raised through a collection at the end of a church service. It will go to help providing palliative care to people around Dorset who suffer with life threatening illnesses.
Mark Howlett, the community fundraiser for Weldmar, said: “I’m extremely grateful to Charmouth community and their pupils for raising this sum. “It’s great to visit and meet their pupils and thank them personally for their efforts.”
Charmouth Primary involves itself in charity fundraising on a regular basis. In the past pupils and staff have put on events and collected money for charities including the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and Children in Need.
