Lord and Lady Hood hosted the successful annual fete at Loders Court.

Organiser Jessie Barrett said although numbers were down, due to the Olympics, the takings were still more than £6,200 with the tea tent making £800.

She said: “All the hard work was worth it. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.”

Despite the prize for the fancy dress winners being £10, there were only seven or eight entries but what they lacked in numbers they made up for in enthusiasm.

The winners were: l Under sevens: Bill and Ben and Little Weed, cousins Ryan Overton, Jade Bull and Hannah Bull l Over sevens: Scarecrow Rosie Howell.

One great attraction was an old Model T Ford, once used in French vineyards and brought along by Roly Moores.

Mrs Barrett added: “We would like to say thank you for all the support given to us by local businesses.”
