A CAR owner has hit out at vandals who have damaged her vehicle outside her property in Burton Bradstock.
Pat Gruhn said her car had been ‘keyed’, or scratched, twice outside cottages in the High Street.
She said that even though her car had been parked legally it was damaged and an insulting note left on it.
She said: “Our car was parked legally on the High Street in Burton Bradstock with its mirrors turned in.
“On Saturday morning, to our outrage, we found that for the second time our car had been keyed and the mirror turned completely the wrong way. The deep groove extends from one end of the car to the other and will cost hundreds to remove.
“A similar smaller scratch happened a few months ago along with an incredibly insulting and rude, foul typewritten note stuck to our windscreen about our parking there.”
Mrs Gruhn and her husband are from Surrey and have two holiday cottages in the village. She said they had put all their life savings into the two cottages in the village and now rented them out as holiday lets.
She said: “We love coming down to stay here and hope to retire to the village in a few years. We bring friends and family to Dorset as well as many happy clients thus creating employment and helping boost local businesses and have made many friends here.”
Two other friends have had their cars damaged while staying at the cottages and Mrs Gruhn said it was upsetting to be targeted in this way.
So far Mrs Gruhn has not reported the incidents to police but wants to alert villagers to what is happening.
She said: “I think it is more about the parking but what right have they to go around just because people are not parked to their liking to actually cause an act of vandalism?”
