IN LAST week’s edition of the Bridport News I read about the South Street trial closure and the earmarked £50,000 to do so, interesting. It was about that sum of money that “had to be saved” from rural transport and the loss of our one bus a week, the 42, which means the 16 or so of us ex-passengers have to use cars and parking spaces now. We were not the only ones to lose out either, so how about reinstating some rural transport with the money?

There is also some serious looking into at the Miles Cross junction where a roundabout would save squinting into the sun when trying to turn right to Bridport and no one is sure who goes first for those going to Chideock. So how about a trial roundabout ?

Bridport is a unique and brilliant little town, so many ways to use £50,000 but I fail to see how the South Street “trial” closure helps anybody.
