SHE may only be seven but Willow Bowditch knows her own mind.

And after a whole life with long hair she decided she wanted to donate it to charity.

So last weekend the Briport Primary School pupil's locks came off and someone at the Little Princess Trust is benefitting from her generosity.

Proud mum Sam said: "She's wanted to do it for a long time, maybe a couple of years now.

"It got to the point when actually brushing her hair was causing her pain.

"So we said we'd find a charity and donate it because that's what she's always wanted to do. She chose to do the Little Princess Trust.

"She absolutely loves her shorter hair and her friends love it too.

"She's never had it this short. She keeps brushing her hair and thinking 'where's it all gone?'"

Willow has been in hospital herself and when she was there was a child without any hair, said Sam.

She added: "We didn't know the whole story as to why but we explained to Willow that this is what the charity will help with - people that haven't got hair, so she knows what it is all about."

Although Willow is loving her new hairstyle she is going to grow it long again - just not as long as it was.

Sam said: "She is excited to have had it done but excited to see that it will re-grow.

"I am very proud of her indeed."
