TALENTED residents will be battling it out this weekend to be crowned the winning act.

Weldmar Hospicecare’s Dorset’s Got Talent returns this weekend – and there’s still time to get your tickets to watch the action.

Ten acts have been selected to battle it out on the stage at Freshwater Beach Holiday Park, to the live audience and a panel of judges. This year’s final includes a magician, singers, a dance troupe and solo dancer as well as a musician. But who wins will be decided on Saturday evening.

Matt Smith from Weldmar Hospicecare said “This is our fourth Dorset’s Got Talent competition. Each year we see a fantastic variety of acts and, once again, we have not been disappointed. But we now need the audience to help crown our champion and tickets are available to purchase now.”

New for 2017, the overall result will be decided by the audience votes combined with the judges’ scores. After all acts have performed, the judges will allocate points to each act and the audience will have the chance to vote. The act with the most votes will be rewarded with the highest points. These points will be combined to reveal the overall champion.

The winner of Dorset’s Got Talent will walk away with £500 cash, donated by The Hive Beach Café, a family holiday at Freshwater Beach Holiday Park plus a guaranteed performance at the Dorset 2017 Festival in August.

The event is also supported by the Dorset Echo.

All of the money raised from this competition, from the votes and ticket sales, will be donated to Weldmar Hospicecare to continue the outstanding care provided throughout Dorset.

The charity supports people throughout north, south and west Dorset who have cancer or other progressive conditions such as motor neurone disease.

All services are provided free of charge and patients can request care in their own homes, at the charity’s wellbeing centres or the inpatient unit at Joseph Weld Hospice in Dorchester.

Matt added: “It will be a fantastic final and we hope to have a bumper audience to join in and be part of choosing our winner. It will be a brilliant variety show.”

Tickets are £10 for adults, £5 for children and are available by calling 01305 261800 or on the door at Freshwater Beach Holiday Park this Saturday evening from 6pm - with the show starting at 7pm.
