FOLLOWING on from this year’s hugely successful Girt Big Barn Dance which raised £1,700 for the Bridport Literary & Scientific Institute, planning for the 2017 event is well underway.

The event will be on Saturday January 14 at 7.30pm in the Symondsbury Tithe Barn with Jess Upton & The Guilty Pleasures providing the entertainment.

The fundraiser is close to the hearts of Creeds.

Director, Andrew ‘Harry’ Harrison said: “All proceeds will go to worthy causes close to our hearts including Young Epilepsy, St Catherine’s Pre-School and the Bridport Arts Centre.”

Harry and Marilyn’s granddaughter Matilda was diagnosed with epilepsy earlier this year.

Matilda, like many children with the condition, has multiple seizures on a daily basis and needs constant care.

Harry added: “As epilepsy is a disorder of the brain and there are more than 40 different seizure types, there is still much to learn and charities such as Young Epilepsy are vital in supporting children and families who are affected.

“Proceeds will also go to St Catherine’s Pre-School, who have been a fantastic support to Matilda.

“The staff at the Pre-School give Matilda the best possible care and the whole family are grateful that she is looked after by such a dedicated group of people.

“Finally, the fundraiser will be supporting the much-loved Bridport Arts Centre.

“The arts centre, which needs funds for essential building work and facilities has been a cultural hub for the people of Bridport and beyond for the past 40 years and long may this continue.”

Tickets cost £10 and are on sale now from Creeds. Contact the office on 01308 423411 or email office@creedsuk.com to get your hands on some.

Last year’s event was a sell out two weeks in advance.

Everyone is encouraged to buy a ticket and help raise vital funds for the worthy causes involved while having a great time at the dance.
