A TODDLER was taken to hospital after falling into West Bay Harbour.

A young boy fell into the harbour at low tide on Tuesday afternoon. It is believed he was not seriously injured.

A spokeswoman from South West Ambulance Service, said: “We got the call at 2.25pm to reports that a toddler had sustained a fall.

“We sent a crew and a rapid response vehicle and the casualty was reported as conscious and breathing and was taken to Dorset County Hospital.

“There is nothing to indicate that they were seriously injured.”

Neil Barnes witnessed the incident while walking his dog in West Bay.

He said: “It happened on the side of the harbour with all the chip huts. I was on the other side and I could see something going on.

“There was a little boy, covered in mud, bawling his eyes out in his mother’s arms. The boy seemed alright, but probably a bit upset.

“It is quite a drop when it is low tide and I think a man, possibly his father, jumped in and got him out.”
