AN INTERACTIVE children’s show will hit the stage in Bridport this weekend.

Albee Vector the Sound Collector is coming to town and he’s bringing Mustard the sound hoover.

Following sell-out runs at the Bristol Old Vic and Mini Vaults Festival, Greenlight Theatre is bringing its smash hit, interactive children’s show to Bridport Arts Centre on Saturday.

Prepare to make some noise during this re-telling of The Odyssey. Albee travels to the ends of the earth seeking the most beautiful sound in the world. Using a myriad of sounds from his collection - including a gurgling river, seaweed pixies and a badger in the bathtub – Albee, and his friend Andromeda, recount their epic tale.

The story will explain how they picked up a motley crew of friends along the way, navigated treacherous waters and fought a Cyclops, before learning the true meaning of the sound he sought. However, some of the sounds are running low, so Albee enlists the audience’s help, and that of his sound hoover, Mustard, to top them up.

This truly interactive show is aimed at those aged three to seven years old, but one which all the family can enjoy.

This is the company’s first children’s show. It was a cult hit at the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe and subsequently received support from Arts Council England and The Pleasance Islington for development. All performances of the show are classified as ‘relaxed’ and are appropriate for audiences with autism or other special educational needs.

Greenlight Theatre was founded in 2011 by Bristol University students Sam Woolf and Sadie Spencer. The company creates experimental work that engages with how technology can affect narrative. Last year, Greenlight worked with Include Arts to make Albee Vector more accessible.

Albee will be played by Paul Heath, while Eleanor Henderson will portray Andromeda. The production is written by Sadie Spencer and Sam Woolf, while Sadie is also the director.

Sounds design is by Robert Ronnelly-Jackson, lighting by Celia Dugua and Natalie Parsons has designed the sets.

The performance takes place at 11am.
