THE south west is set to lose two seats in the House of Commons in planned changes to constituencies which will be announced tomorrow (Tuesday).

One of these may be West Dorset, according to unofficial reports. MP Oliver Letwin, who has held the seat since 1997, announced in July that he will retire in 2020.

The Boundary Commission declined to comment at the time on speculation that the constituency could be carved up and absorbed into neighbouring areas.

Nationally the number of MPs is to be reduced from 650 to 600 under the plans. The changes will be implemented in time for the general election in 2020.

There will be a 12 week consultation period where members of the public can have their say on the plans on the Boundary Commission website.
