STUDENTS at a joint sixth form are celebrating after opening their A Level results this morning.

The Beaminster and Sir John Colfox sixth form students achieved a pass rate of 97 per cent at A Level, while 70 per cent of the grades achieved were between A* and C. Of these, 42 per cent received A* to B grades.

Villo Bernard achieved four A* grades , Lucie Fry received one A* and two As, Polly Sutcliffe was awarded four As, Caitlin Appleton Scott and Hannah Rist both achieved two As and a B.

Eloise Levien was awarded an A* and two Bs, Tyler Hulbert achieved an A and two Bs, Lottie Hyde received three A*s, Holly Marriage, Isabel Mitchelson, Asha Ponsford-Maguire, Robyn Edwards and Ruth Daniels all received an A* and two As, Jonathon Greenwood was given three As.

Head teacher of the Colfox Academy David Herbert, said: “I am very proud of all the students and their results are testament to the hard work they have put in.

“Of course the amazing results of those at the very top end will always stand out, but right through the cohort there are some lovely stories of students who have worked hard and made brilliant progress.

Beaminster head teacher Keith Hales was also pleased with the results He said: “I am delighted that so many of the students have achieved results that are enabling them to progress onto the university course, or career path, of their choice.

“In a system that is becoming more and more difficult the students in the sixth form have done themselves proud’.

At AS Level, Theo Everley sat seven AS courses and he received grade As in six of them. Evie Dixon received four A grades, Rose Jones was awarded two As, a B and a C grade, Theo Jones achieved an A and two B grades.

Mr Herbert also paid thanks to the work of school staff in helping students.

He added: “One of the special features of our joint sixth form is the personal guidance and individual support that the teachers give to the students. “They always appreciate it and there is no doubt it is a very important part of the on-going success of the sixth form.”
