A MAN has been handed a criminal behaviour order after being found guilty of assaulting a member of staff at a Bridport pub.

Christopher Henry Vye, 63, was issued the order by Weymouth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 3 – after he was found guilty of assaulting a member of staff at the Greyhound Wetherspoons pub on East Street.

The order is in place for five years and states that Vye must not act or incite others to behave in an anti-social manner, a manner that causes harassment, alarm or distress to any persons within the commission area of Dorset. He must not use or incite others to use threatening intimidating, insulting or abusive words or behaviour in any place to which the public has access to in Dorset.

Vye must not enter any licensed premises in the Bridport and Beaminster areas, to which he has already been barred under the Pubwatch scheme, have open containers of alcohol in public or be drunk in any place accessible by members of the public.

He must engage with EDP Drug and Alcohol Services for a minimum of three times a week until discharged by EDP and have full control of his dog when he is in his care.

Police Constable Scott McGregor, of Bridport Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are determined to reduce the number of victims of anti-social behaviour across Bridport and we are aware that Vye’s alcohol-related anti-social behaviour has caused serious concern to many residents for a long time.

"This order will give Vye a clear set of guidelines but also ensures he can get help from services so that he can begin to take positive steps to help himself.”
