FRINGE events will take place at this year's Bridport Hat Festival to help raise even more money for charity.

A community performing arts project and a hat-themed dance party will take place in the town to coincide with the festival next month.

No Limits Bridport will present an inclusive community performing arts project, which is supported by West Dorset District Council and West Dorset Mencap.

This year's Bridport Hat Festival will be held on Saturday, September 3.

Hat Festival publicist Matthew Count, said: "No Limits Bridport will be performing Summertime Together in the Borough Gardens at 12pm on Hat Festival day, and it promises to be a performance not to be missed.

Also on Hat Festival day, Beat Safari will hold a hat-themed dance party in the Chapel in the Garden to raise money for charities this year's Hat Festival is supporting.

Mr Count added: "The theme is Alice in Wonderland -Eat Me – Drink Me, giving wide scope for some inventive hat creations.

"There will be ska, reggae, Latin, swing and funk to dance the night away to, with the Cerne Abbas Brewery bar and a street food stall providing fuel to keep dancing."

The Beat Safari event will take place from 8pm until 12.30am and is for those aged 18 and older. Tickets are available from Bridport Music and Bridport Tourist Information Centre.

The party is on Saturday 3rd September from 8.00 – 12.30
