BRIDPORT'S Leakers Bakery is sponsoring the first Talkaoke, one of the People's Wishes for the future of food in Bridport.

On the verge of the EU referendum, the Talkaoke Table will create an opportunity for people to talk to each other, a chance to talk about whatever people want to with a chance to reflect on the health impact and ethics of our food system.

Linda Hull who has been working on the Communities Living sustainably project for Dorset Community Action said: "In the debates raging about staying in or coming out of Europe, there is scant discussion about the implications for food supply. This is unbelievable when you consider we have to import nearly half our food.

"No doubt the conversations at the Talkaoke Table will range all over the place - from immigration to population to globalisation and beyond! Who knows what the future holds but one thing is for sure, we all need to eat.

"How to produce and consume food sustainably is one of the most pressing issues of our time. Come to the Talkaoke between 11am and 6pm this Saturday (18th June) on Askers Meadow and take part in the conversation."
