AN annual food festival will return to west Dorset this weekend (21) - showcasing a host of local producers.

The Spring Tide Food Festival will take place at Hive Beach, organised by the National Trust's west Dorset team.

The event will include more than 60 stalls, with a "strong community emphasis".

Sarah Kennedy, National Trust outdoor experience ranger for West Dorset, said: "There will be lots going on over the weekend with a strong community emphasis and the opportunity to discover and meet local food producers.

"With over 60 stallholders attending, the festival will bring together and showcase some of the best food and drink from across the county, featuring a line-up of locally made artisan bread, preserves, tea, coffee, beer, cider, wine, cheese, chocolate, cakes, charcuterie, fish and meat.

"You will also find a selection of products from local craftsmen and artists, and be able to enjoy music and family entertainment.

"We'll be tempting visitors to experience a range of local seasonal foods, from scrumptious savouries to the indulgent naughty but nice sweet treats."

The festival will be open on both Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 4pm.

Katharine Wright, Dorset Food and Drink co-ordinator, said: "It is so good to see this festival going from strength to strength and continue to attract the high quality food and drink producers from the local area.

"Spring Tide is a family-friendly festival with a brilliant atmosphere throughout the weekend.

"There really is something for everyone, with a winning combination of great food and drink, splendid views along the Jurassic Coast, and entertainment for all ages."

Entry to the event is £2 and all money raised will be spent on conservation work at local National Trust sites. There’s free parking for National Trust members at Hive Beach or Pay and Display for non-members.
