A motorcyclist suffered life changing injuries in a crash near Blandford on Sunday afternoon.

Police and ambulance were called to the A350 at Durweston in north Dorset after a collision between a motorbike and a car at 12.40pm today.

A 63-year-old male motorcyclist, from the Sturminster Newton area has serious leg and pelvic injuries, and an air ambulance has been sent to convey him to Southampton General Hospital.

The motorbike involved is a silver and grey MV Agusta, registered to a man from Sturminster Newton. It collided with a grey Subaru car being driven by a 72-year-old man from the Bridport area.

The accident is believed to have taken place between The A357 at Durweston Bridge and Higher Shaftesbury Road.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours but has since re-opened.
