SEVEN Bridport cyclists might be careful of the conversations they start after a few pints in future.

It was one such chat in the pub with an ale or two that saw the seven men embark on a 925 mile bike ride challenge from Bridport to Barcelona.

It took the team nine days - starting from Bucky Doo Square to Portsmouth and then from St Malo right down through the centre of France to the Pyrenees and eventually, after a combined climb of more than twice the height of Everest, they arrived in Barcelona.

Simon Holland from Washingpool Farm was among the intrepid crew.

He said: "Rain, strong winds, heat and some punishingly long days did not dampen spirits and we were all overjoyed to finish a final big climb to give us our first view of Barcelona.

"Arranging the trip was a group effort but without the help and organisation of Peter Wyrill who runs Raw Media in Poundbury and of their amazing support team of Richard Rossiter and Miee Srisan the trip would never have made it out of The Tiger in Bridport."

A number of the group are using the trip to raise money for causes personal to them.
